Oriented towards the medical profession

Medical professionals’ health is a matter of particular concern to the Swiss Medical Association FMH. This is why it launched a programme under the title ReMed 2007 focussing exclusively on this important topic. Since its launch, a large number of people have sought advice – demonstrating that the support network is on the right track and has been able to establish a basis for confidence.

Even though ReMed is funded by the FMH, the professional organisation has no access to personal and support files at any time. ReMed is bound by professional medical confidentiality, and medical and administrative tasks are clearly separated.

The parent organisation and various partner organisations of the medical profession are represented on an advisory committee. A national steering committee is responsible for the operational management of the support network.

ReMed organisational chart Further information

An outline of the individual organisational units:

  • The Central Board of the FMH takes strategic decisions – for example, in relation to funding.

  • The managers of the programme are responsible for developing the conceptual organisation of the ReMed structures. They have a cost control function and represent the ReMed Project in dealings with the FMH Central Board.

  • The advisory committees of the medical profession and of its partners are regularly informed about ReMed and whenever possible assist in the further development of ReMed in professional, and financial aspects as well as in the field of communications.

  • The steering committee is responsible for the operational realisation of the services ReMed offers. It appoints confidential ReMed counsellors who make first contact and represent ReMed in its dealings with the outside world. Non-medical steering committee members are never involved in handling case-related matters.

  • The ethical committee is available to advise the steering committee on matters affecting medical confidentiality.

  • Network members are individuals who are put in touch with the individual doctor by ReMed to support the doctor by mentoring or coaching. They have no contractual relationship with ReMed, and their client is the individual doctor. At events arranged by ReMed, network members exchange experiences of their work with the doctors concerned.

  • Network partners are organisations with which ReMed collaborates. They are generally involved in the ReMed Project on the advisory committee of the medical profession or on the advisory committee of the partners and are regularly informed about the status of the programme. ReMed enters into close cooperation with the network partners in order to pursue specific goals.

  • The back office assists the managers of the programme and the steering committee in the realisation of ReMed, particularly in organisational and communications respects.
